Talein,
born Kia Talein Anderson (Keepin’ It Anointed) is soul
stirring. Using the gifts she once used to win pageants,
Talein - former lead vocalist for Atlantic Starr - is
winning souls for Christ. Affectionately known to her family
as Song Bird, this Washingtonian native is living up to the
meaning of her name.
Talein’s
diversity as an artist spans to song writing and vocal
arrangement. It shows in her music as she teams up with
songwriter Michael Sampson, La-Tina Smith and Producer
Reginald Reid. Talein realizes that the Anointing of God is
what destroys the yokes and the gift of a psalmist is to
allow the spirit of God to flow and minister to the people.
This is evident in her music with her powerful delivery of
God on My Mind, to the laid back and reflect Jesus in the
Air Tonight, to the sweet and gentle heartfelt Fill Me Up.
Talein and Michael Sampson wrote and vocally arranged these
songs, produced by Reginald Reid.
Talein
has been training for this musical ministry since the age of
2. Walking in the footsteps of her grandparents, Talein sang
gospel at area churches. But Talein’s path widened
quickly, moving her stage from the church to the secular
community. Her talent would not be denied. As Miss Black
Maryland 1992-3, Talein performed at stellar events and
competitions including Miss Black USA where she won the
prestigious title of the First Runner-Up for the Miss Black
USA Pageant 1993. It was during her year as the First Runner
Up for the Miss Black USA Pageant that Talein realized that
true victory was God-given through a relationship with Jesus
Christ. During this year, she accepted the gift of
salvation.
Talein
continued to sharpen her music and business skills at the
recording studio she co-owned. Her diligence paid off and
she landed a contract with Arista Records as Lead Female
vocalist for Atlantic Starr. Her career grew. So did her
relationship with Christ. This spiritual growth was changing
her desires, dreams and ultimately her direction. In 1994,
Talein made a decision to be about business – His
business. Surrendering her life, gifts, and talents to God,
Talein stepped into her ministry. She was back at her
beginning – the church.
Removing
herself from the spotlight into His light, Talein has never
looked back. Whether performing for one or one million,
Talein is excited to share the good news through gospel
music. While living in Atlanta, GA, she was a featured
pslamist on Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) and The Local
Praise the Lord show. Talein was also featured as the up and
coming gospel artist on the Candi Staton show “Say Yes”,
on TBN. She has also been blessed to minister in David
Talbert’s gospel stage play “What Goes Around Comes
Around”, Toni Foreman’s gospel musical stage play ”Thy
Kingdom Come”, which she recorded the Compact Disc
Soundtrack “Thy Kingdom Come”. She was featured on “We
Need to Hear from You” song from the Compact Disc Brandon
Broadnax & Co., a Washington, DC gospel group.
Talein
gives her heart and soul in her music, and her relationship
with Christ is evident. This is the beginning of reaching
the world with God’s love through her musical gift. God
has much more on the horizon for her, and we just await to
see what that will be.
“O
magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt HIS name
together.” Psalm 34:3
