In
2004, Lisa Gilliam independently released her debut CD “Past
to Present”, a compilation of jazz, neo-soul, spoken word,
and Gospel. She currently working on her sophomore CD.
Lisa began performing in 1995 and she is from Upper Marlboro,
MD. She ministers Gospel lyrics over the genres of
Spoken Word, Contemporary, Urban, Neo-Soul, and Jazz.
Lisa is the featured Poet in “The Gospel Café” on
Heaven 1580 AM’s Poetry Lounge segment. In addition, she
is occasionally a featured soloist and/or poet at
Alternative Café, Crossover Café, Psalms 117
Coffeehouse, My Brother’s Place, and various churches in
the DC Metropolitan area. Lisa has also had the honor of
sharing the stage with some of the most gifted independent
and national recording artists and producers in the DC
Metropolitan area, such as Ason, Detrick Edwards, Kevin
Gray, J-Mac!, Rob Mercer, Tyrone Powell, and Silas and
Stephan Terry (formerly of Tru Souljuz). She has been the
background vocalist on the main stage and in the NBC-4 Tent
for Stephan and Silas Terry at The Black Family Reunion on
the National Mall, Washington, DC. She has participated in
the WTTG-5 Fox Morning News Live taping about DC Gospel
Cruises, The Spirit of Washington Potomac Cruise,
Washington, DC, The Kennedy Center Millennium Stage,
Washington, DC, and the Smithsonian Folk-life Festival,
Washington, DC. Lisa also toured Jacksonville, Miami, and
Tallahassee, FL, as background and lead vocalist with
Carlton Burgess, National Gospel recording artist, producer,
and song-writer. In addition, Lisa has been the featured
soloist at the 2nd Annual Cake Walk Ball, Oxon Hill, MD, and
in the Educational Tent at The Black Family Reunion on the
National Mall, Washington, DC.
The “4th Friday’s” Praise Festival will be kicking off its
5th season in March 2006. Held at New Vision Fellowship
Church in Forestville, MD, this event features Evangelist
Gilliam and other artists from March to October of each
