At
the age of 4 years old, this soul stirring, sultry contralto
knew that she would one day become apart of the elite group
of performers that would touch the hearts of music lovers
everywhere with a style that is unmistakably her own. Having
grown up in a family that has a strong background in Gospel,
La’Rae first entered the music industry at the age of 16,
during this time, her talents were noticed by Arista
Recording Artist Kenny Lattimore for whom she was afforded
the opportunity to sing background vocals for at a local
venue, during the run of his first project. She has since
been featured as a solo artist on various Gospel Projects
such as Sam Kendrick & The Nation of Holiness (produced
by Sam Kendrick of Seven Sons of Soul) and Freddye Jackson
& Agape the winners of the first Quaker Oats Gospel
Competition in Washington, DC. Her vocal style is jazzy and
smooth, yet, energetic and powerful, a raw talent with
versatility that is all her own. The Year 2005 brought new
worlds to conquere as La' Rae traveled abroad to accolaids
in Sicily, Italy while ministering as one of the premier
vocalist of upcoming Praise & Worship Artist "Yadah".
As a Solo Artist and writer, La’Rae has developed a sound
in Soul Contemporary Gospel that has all the makings of a
vocalist that will be around for years to come. Her major
influences are such artist as Phyllis Hyman, Anita Baker,
CeCe Winans, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughn and Billie
Holliday to name a few. Although her background is Gospel,
she has a passion for jazz that can be heard clearly in
every vocal performance. La’ Rae has a vision to bring her
love for music to life and inspire the world for generations
to come.
